About Motivity

The power of creating movement

Our Story

Motivity began from the belief that more could be done to help people, especially for those who had tried traditional care and were unsuccessful. Once people experienced the treatment at Motivity, they understood that high quality Manual Physical Therapy could not only get them out of pain, but help their bodies feel even better when they weren't.

Garrett Petry

Garrett is the founder of Motivity PT which opened in 2019 in Chicago IL. He grew up in San Clemente Ca, received his Bachelors in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine while playing soccer for Cal Poly Pomona and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from University of St. Augustine in San Marcos in completing the Manual Therapy emphasis.

Garrett is a curious student of the body and has a passion to help people experience their body optimally. Being a 3rd generation holistic healthcare practitioner, his fascination with the body started early and persists today. This curiosity and desire to learn has led him to relocating to learn from some of the best Manual Physical Therapists in the country in places like Chicago, IL and Steamboat Springs, CO.

Throughout his career he has worked with professional / collegiate athletes, former Olympians and X-Games athletes, ultramarathon runners, weekend warriors, individuals receiving gender affirming procedures, Moms, Dads, kids and people who just want to feel better.

He completed a 16 month Manual Therapy Fellowship in Steamboat Springs Colorado to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT) and a Fellow of Functional Manual Therapy (FFMT). After completion of his fellowships, he stayed in Steamboat for 2 years as part of the on-site faculty for the Functional Manual Therapy (FMT) Fellowship where he contributed to training others completing their highest level training.

Throughout his career, Garrett continued to expand his skillset beyond his fellowship training into other areas such as spinal manipulation, Osteopathic visceral and neural manipulation through the Barral Institute, Stecco Fascial Manipulation, Diane Lee Integrated Systems Model (ISM), the analysis and treatment of Scoliosis through the Schroth Barcelona Institute.
